Great view from this understated & reasonable Thai restaurant on A1A. Thom Kha Soup, Nam Sod & Pad Thai were all spiced just right, and the Nigori unfiltered sake was a treat! Next time I am in town #tommurray

Ok I may be experiencing déjà Vu because I'm here for the third time. I met the owner, originally from Thailand. All the ingredients she cooks with are fresh and hand picked. Everyone needs to try this place and end your meal with mango and sticky rice!!

This was a great find on our hunt for some dinner. The Thai wings were awesome....they come bare, but if you pour the delicious sauce it comes with all over them while they're hot it's so yummy. We also had spring rolls, shumai, edamame, chicken fried rice and sushi - spider roll. The rice was divine, big chunks of chicken and not to bland, the sushi was also good...and best of all...the price is definitely right 2 orders of wings 1 order of spring rolls 1 order of edamame 1 order of chicken fried rice 1 order shumai 1 spider roll sushi Total $63.23 Not bad considering the amount we ordered...you must try this spot!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I come here almost every week, and I wish I could come more often since I live In Boca, but I don't mind the drive at all because the food is so FANTASTIC! We always get the Ground Chicken with Basil and to be honest is one of the best dishes in the restaurant, I think Everyone should try it. And if you don't mind a little kick get it spicy!! Best Thai Food In town!!!

Let me start by saying the Pad Thai dish is excellent. I wish I would have remembered to ask for them to add a little kick to it, but without it it was still fantastic! Aside from the food & convenient location, it kind of lacks. But, if nothing else matters to you- you should definitely enjoy it! Cons: -They serve canned soda rather than from a fountain--not a big deal, but just something that irks me. -Service was HORRIBLE. I saw ONE girl doing everything (serving, hosting, etc.) and never saw one other employee the entire time. Bad move on management's part because she hardly spoke to us. I had to flag her down for EVERY THING and I hate people who flag servers down, but she left me no other choice. She never asked us how our food was, never asked if we wanted a refill, as I said, she barely spoke. She could hardly muster up any eye contact for us to get her attention so I basically had to scream "excuse me" any time we needed something. Then, I discovered that this is because gratuity is already included, which trust me, I was a server and I get it (especially in a touristy area) but at least make it worth it and put in a little effort for your 18%.

Loved eating here. It's above the pizza shop and most tables overlook the beach. It's very quiet, cool and comfortable and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Prices were very reasonable and portions were large. My wife had the pad Thai (great) and I had the shrimp and curry (also great). If we had a condo or apartment nearby I imagine we'd find ourselves here often.

  • Danny S.

Atmosphere, a view, soft and pleasant music, and real good food! We had the Tom Kha soup snd the seafood soup to start - all priced fairly ( but a bit small )... Then we had the Ki Maoew noodles with Tofu which was delicious and well portioned . I lived in Thailand for 15 years and so far what we ate tasted awesome .. The service was excellent too ! The waitress was attentive!! This place on the second floor looking at the ocean isn't pretentious!!!! Definitely do not miss it!

Despite some negative reviews, my wife and I decided to try this restaurant on the last night of our Honeymoon and I am glad that we did! My wife got two different sushi rolls and I tried the sweet and sour chicken. Lots of flavor, great portion sizes, and very yummy! Service was amazing and the waitress (possibly the owner?) was great! Would definitely go back and highly recommend!

  • Amanda P.

My husband and I had dinner here on vacation. It's right across from the ocean so the view is of course great! We were extremely hungry so we tried several dishes and they were all great! The service was also amazing. I'd certainly recommend it!

Authentic Thai food. Nic view of Fort Lauderdale beach within walking distance of hotel. The hostess needs to smile.

In the long strip of beautiful beach at one side and horrible restaurants on the other, this Thai food joint is a life saver. Owners and servers were super friendly and restaurant has very cute thai decor, the view from restaurant is amazing, looking over beach. Location is very convenient, right on the traffic signal and on top of a 24 hr pizzeria. Food was awesome, our fav was yellow curry , pineapple fried rice and pad thai, very tasty. And we heard later their whole fish trout or something is very good too. U can order a to go too, n eat in ur hotel

I've never written a yelp review before but I was compelled to write one after the horrendous service I just received. My party of 9 arrived around 830 for my friend's birthday dinner. The restaurant was empty, save for a couple who were leaving. The waitress who greeted us seemed agitated that we were dining there, as she threw our silverware down on the table after merging 3 tables together to accommodate our party size. This could be forgivable as everyone is entitled to a bad day every now and again, however what followed was clearly over the line. When placing our order we asked to have our check split four ways, but the lady said "no I won't split checks." She then proceeded to tell us that she was not allowed due to a customer complaint and her boss told her not to. She also told us that her "calculator was broken" and "it is too busy." I am not joking. The food isn't terrible but there is an unpleasant odor in the restaurant. If you are in town you can pretty much eat at any other place and have a better experience. Do not come here.

  • Lizelle V.

The waitress didn't tell us the tip was included in the bill. On the receipt it didn't say it was included. The menu said tip will be included on a bill of 6 or more people, we were 3. Felt a bit dishonest. The food is pretty good, service was very grumpy!

Duck with crispy basil was good but needed some more sauce for the rice. Food is good. Next time duck in green curry.

Great food, small restaurant but service was good. Glad it's there and not your typical "beach" food.

Really complex vibrant flavors, what you would expect from an authentic Thai owner and master chef. Great beach view! Really friendly staff. Really comfortable.

  • Naveen G.

Would not give the food a chance. Was seated rather rudely by an indifferent and uncaring staff. The table was filthy (pictured posted). Had my kids which was made very clear are not welcomed at this establishment. Asked the server if they would like us to leave rather than serve food, they said yes! Enough said. Please don't ruin your evening at this place.

After graduating from Miami Dade College in the 90's, I took a trip to Bangkok Thailand. Actually Bangkok was only one of many stops during my Asia tour, complimentary of my parents. I kinda did the typical tourist agenda visiting Ayutthaya & surrounding area Buddhist temples etc. But on the same day I arrived in Bangkok I also had a Nuru Massage in a hotel that was totally dedicated to the blissful practice. After experiencing Nuru, I knew I must have been born Thai or in this region in a previous life. For those who do not know what Nuru is, it's the closest state to physical & mental bliss one can attain on earth reminiscent of Maha Samadhi. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to visit the hedonistic capitals of world Pattaya and Phuket. At the time I didn't even know they existed. But in time my friends I shall visit those two sensual Mahayanist Buddhist Heavens and bond my aura with all those beautiful tanned dark-eyed Apsaras. Which brings me to Thai on the beach. I was confused as to where it was, I had no idea it was on the second floor over another restaurant overlooking Fort Lauderdale Beach. Luckily I noticed the reserved sign on the stair case directing unsuspecting seekers upstairs to the location of the restaurant. Thai on the Beach is a rather dimly lit modest space with an older woody appearance bit.ly/1bOdDes bit.ly/1bOdF64 . The menu is populated with traditional Thai dishes, many wines & refreshments. This is not a full fledged Sushi & Thai place, just traditional Thai with a small sushi menu. After getting comfy and spying around, I realized that this is a nice date place. Perfect for intimate convo & temptation of the eyes. ORDERED - Spring Rolls ($4.25) bit.ly/19tIzuK - Beach Golden Shrimp ($6.95) bit.ly/19tIGXm - Pad Thai ($12.95) bit.ly/19tJlbp - Thai Donuts bit.ly/GU0wup - I ordered to go. * The Spring Rolls were crisp in skin texture & the vegetables were fresh. The side plum sauce was impeccable. The Spring Rolls could have had a larger girth though. RATING 3.5 * The Golden Shrimp were crisp like the spring rolls & the shrimp were juicy with an oceanic taste. RATING 3.8 * Although I've been to many Thai restaurants, this is only the 2nd time I've ordered Pad Thai. It was sexy, sleek & very flavorful. The contrasts in texture with the nuts and noodles were perfect. Personally I absolutely detest fish sauce, especially the smell. Luckily they went easy on the fish sauce, I barely noticed it. RATING 4.5 -- this dish is inspiring to get to Pattaya and Phuket even faster! *Thai donuts were large & tasty. The nutty sweet milk dip was heavenly. RATING 4.5 Service is super, there is always smiles & pleasantries. I've been here twice so far, albeit in the night. So I've yet to experience the beautiful Atlantic ocean views from the restaurant. I will be back! The only negative is the portions are not large and the prices are pricey.

We got the green curry! it was delicious! the rice they give you isn't enough for the curry they give you.. and they charge you for more rice. it's normal for charging for more rice but at least give enough for the curry you serve is my point! The restaurant is a little restaurant upstairss of a building and the windows are tinted... so you can't really see the beach?? lol at least not clearly so the name doesn't go.. the food is good just don't go with the mindset its on the beach! hahah

The sushi tasted as though they rolled it inside of the domino sugar plant. Way too sweet. My mum liked her food though (she actually ordered Thai cuisine)

This is a hidden gem on the second floor above Primanti Bros. You would almost never know it is there, but it is my favorite Thai place in Ft. Lauderdale. I love their Pad Thai or the Thai Basil - get them spicy if you like it hot!

    (5)
  • Justin C.

Ordered the Pad Thai and a vegetable roll, food was well prepared and arrived quickly. My only food complaint and I mentioned this to the staff, they don't removed the tails from the shrimp that they mix into the noodles. I suggested they need to either put the shrimp on top so you know you need to peel the shrimp or the easier answer...fully peel the shrimp. I didn't notice the first shrimp when I took some noodles and ended up with shrimp tail in my mouth, not pleasant. The area this place falls short is ambience. The beach view makes up for it some but not completely. The restaurant floor is cluttered, space is tight but not utilized well. Fixtures and features seem outdated. Walking to the restroom you pass boxes of product (looks liked beer) along the wall and can see into other messy rooms. Bathroom itself didn't exactly fill me with confidence about how clean the other back areas were. Other note ...Entering this restaurant requires a walk up a set of outdoor metal steps. Surprisingly they don't have the menu posted at the bottom of the stairs, that might lead more people to make the journey up.

What a little hidden gem! This restaurant offers such a great view of the beach, but just so you know--no windows! You have to enjoy the view from indoors! It is upstairs, so comes off a little secluded--so that is nice. The service is GREAT. Such friendly people and very nice. The Thai Tea is good--one of the better that I've had. The food is decent. I have definitely had better Thai food, but being on the beach, it is a great one time experience. Not good, but also not bad. The restaurant does not take reservations, but it wasn't too busy when we went. Overall, not bad. Will probably not go back since there is better Thai food elsewhere. Good for a one time experience though!

One of the best Thai food restaurants I have been to in a while. And I can confidently say they have the best spicy tuna roll I have ever tasted. Other reviewers have complained about unflavorful food and not being cooked correctly, but that was not the case when I went here. The Pad Thai was amazing, the server was very polite and checked on us often. The food did take a little while to come out but I can't be mad since it was all so perfectly done. However, I ordered my food mild and my friend ordered his spicy. Turned out they made mine spicy and his mild, but it still tasted great and wasn't a problem. The dining room area is somewhat small and crowded but its not supposed to be a huge chain restaurant. It feels very homey inside with a great view of the beach from wherever you sit. My guess is that they have certain chefs that are better than others working on different days, I was lucky enough to get amazingly flavorful and perfectly cooked food my first time here. Will definitely be back.

Great food! Pad Thai and Hawaiian Fried Rice are amazing! Cozy atmosphere and okay decor but the food makes up for what building may be lacking. Great view of the beach and the street below. Besides the amazing food, the reasonable prices are the next best thing.

Food is great. Location is awesome. But the waiter is really bad and has a bad attitude. She is constantly texting and frowns if you spill something on the table.

Thai on the beach is a cute Thai restaurant literally across from the beach with great views. The design inside is reminiscent of the surrounding ocean. One thing I noticed was all the dust right above us where the air filter was located. A big turn off when food is served right underneath. Bf and I had miso and tum ka Kai soup. Miso was great and vegetarian for me since I don't eat meat. Entree was red curry tofu. The curry broth was delicious. I enjoyed it very much. BTW the hostess/waitress was very nice and accommodating to our needs such as food allergies. Didn't see any lunch specials besides for some sushi options. No drink specials. Good meal but definitely lacked appeal....

Save yourself time and money. There's a reason why they are always empty when we walk by and we just found out why. Rude, Slow, Over-Priced, Small Portions, Poor Quality. No idea how they stay in business.

We went to 'Thai on the Beach' for lunch after reading rave reviews on Yelp. After a 15 minute walk from our hotel, we arrived at this place. You have to climb the stairs to enter the restaurant. So if you have trouble climbing stairs, you may want to dine at the pizza place on the lower level. The view from the restaurant is amazing. You face the beach and ocean, and its quite serene. The waitress was very prompt in seating us and taking our orders. We ordered the following: - Seaweed Salad: decent. - Masaman Curry (with vegetables): DELICIOUS. This curry had the perfect blend of spice and flavor. The sweet potatoes were too big in size, and I would have preferred it to be chopped properly. But the curry was definitely worth 4 stars. This restaurant has tons of veggie options. Judging from the Masaman Curry, I am sure the other curries would be delicious too. Definitely would come back to try other dishes, next time I am in Fort Lauderdale.

Terrible Thai Food. We went here with great suggestions from Yelp and were very disappointed with the food. I ordered the fried rice combination and tom yum soup, and my friends had the pad Thai and pad see ew. The portions were tiny, especially for the price. The dishes all were too sweet and unflavorful, definitely not cooked for the Asian palate. I asked for the prik dong (chili in vinegar) to even the sweetness and they didn't even have that (what authentic Thai restaurant doesn't have this?). The fried rice and pad Thai themselves were wet and soggy (fried rice is supposed to be dry and flavorful), and the pad see ew noodle were thin (and not thick as they are supposed to be), and extremely chewy, like they were undercooked. Our beef itself tasted stale. I didn't finish our food, and was still hungry after my meal that I went downstairs and grabbed a slice of pizza! Overall, this place is overrated, overpriced, and poor quality. Would definitely not return.

  • Sarah M.

I am never disappointed by the food here and the location is great. Their spicy food is pretty high on the Scoville scale (but not too crazy), so you might want to go mild if you're wary of heat. If not, bring a tissue.

    (4)
  • Karen E.

Not really impressed with this place. The food was mediocre, ambiance was boring, and two female staff dressed like they just rolled out of bed. My tom kha gai soup was too heavy on the coconut milk. The pad see ew had skinny noodles when it's supposed to have wide flat noodles, and the beef was overcooked. Chicken wings were totally unremarkable. Also, at $46 (minus tip) for two people with no alcohol, it wasn't worth the money. Nice upstairs location on the beach though, especially if you go before dark.

  • Sam S.

Amazingly bad thai food in a seemingly gorgeous location. Spice level is unauthentically bland. We had chicken sate (chicken was fried), pad woon sen with chicken (0*), nam sod (1*) and Chicken Pad Thai (0*). Staff was a little callous but it could have been a result of a busy night. When the bill arrived the total was represented as pre-tip amount but it wasn't. When I asked the waitress, she insisted that it was pre-trip. But then I asked for the itemized bill and then came back and apologized and said it was with tip. This made the overall experience even worse. Overall 0.5 *.

The best thing about this restaurant is the great beach view! Parking was nearly impossible and we almost gave up. The waiter was very nice and service was fast. We had a sushi roll as an appetizer and it was good. My friend ordered the pad thai and I had the green curry. Both were delicious, but nothing extraordinary that I couldn't live without. All in all if you are in the area and craving Thai food I would stop, but don't go out of your way. The prices are rather steep for Thai food and they do not have any lunch specials.

    (3)
  • Erin S.

I wanted to go here the last time I was in Ft Lauderdale but couldn't so I definitely made sure to try it out this time. I got take out, so I can't comment on their service. I had panang chicken and a Thai tea. My order was prepared quickly but it cost $18. I thought that was really outrageous for one entree. Most other Thai restaurants I've been to would charge $7 for the same meal. That was a shock to me. However, the curry was delicious and it was made exactly how I specified.

  • Amit G.

Avoid if you are going w family. We came to have a good time and kids were asked to keep quiet several times. There was a stinky smell when we entered and dirt on table stayed while we waited to order. We decided to leave and they were rude and did not care to say sorry.

In the area on business and glad I had Yelpers leading the way to a great dinner! It is easy to miss if you don't look up! It has a great view, even though it is pretty small inside. Coworker & I shared the beef satay and the grouper curry (level 4), along with Pad Thai. Loved every bite & the service was great! Would go again for sure!

  • Michael M.

I came here twice and was quite pleased both times! You would not even know it was there unless you knew about it already or you did your research. Its on the 2nd floor overlooking the ocean and the boardwalk or the strip. The food is fresh authentic and amazing. I would recommend everything! The Pad Thai is a must!

    (5)
  • Rhonda B.

The Massaman curry was amazing! I don't like sweet potatoes but it was part of the dish so I gave it a try. It was very flavorful. Will definitely be back!

Great little spot on the beach, delicious food both thai and sushi we got a few things and everything was delicious particularly the Red Dragon Roll tuna on top of shrimp tempura asparagus, avocado, scallions masago with spicy mayo and eel sauce, a specialty roll that was fresh and delicious for around $13, unbeatable. Great wrap-around ocean view, quaint vibe. Will definitely be back!

  • Lauren B.

I like to consider myself a pro at thai food.. It is filling, moderately priced and delicious. At least at the 10+ thai restaurants I have visited in NY. Thai on the beach is a divey little place where you pay $2 extra for "extra shrimp" aka 2 pieces. Your dish of pad thai will be half empty, and after a few bites will be non existent. And that will run you much more then your regular thai restaurant. The shrimp shumai appetizer should be labeled "bite size" because that is all it is, and there are 6 pcs for about $6. Dont bother if you want a real meal.

    (1)
  • Todd W.

An awesome place right near the beach. Not crowded, good pricing, nice atmosphere. The Panang Curry was excellent and they made it spicy for me (ask for the spicy scaling). If I'm in the area again I will definitely try and give this place another try. Great Thai!

    (5)
  • Ben D.

Pretty cool spot with a great view. Service is good, my Tom Kha Gai was absolutely delicious and perfect. Also got Hawaiian rice (overcooked but still tasty) and Beef Pad Thai (which was undercooked and not as tasty.) Worth a try, we paid ~$40 for two with no alcohol.

  • Hanna K.

Nice view. Service and food was good. Nothing really stood out except for the view.

    (3)
  • Neli T.

The food was very good but the service was very slow. We waited for over an hour for our steamed edamame and the entrees came in even later. They seemed short staffed and a simple explanation of the situation would have been nice. We were starving after a day on the beach and giving us something to nibble on- like a free appetizer- until the food was ready would have been a nice gesture.

    (3)
  • Marcel D.

Excellent Thai food! This is a cook to order place so be patient. It's definitely excellent. Place is small and the rest room is pretty tight. The capacity sign says 49 but that would be really tight and probably take long on the service. All in all the excellent food is worth it. First visit I had only appetizers and beer. Jumping shrimp salad (mostly jumbo shrimp), soft shelled crab and calamari. Thus time I had the grouper with Thai basil sauce (medium spicy). The fish was battered with the sauce on top but not over done. If you're in Fort Lauderdale, give it a shot.

  • John W.

Food was pretty darn good. I didn't find the climb up the stairs a problem. The portions are adequate, but not overly generous. And the prices are slightly on the high side. Combined, it make the value proposition questionable. What I found annoying is that we had a party of 5 (3 kids), and they automatically included gratuity in the bill. I did not see that specified in the menu or anywhere (I could have missed it though), but I found that a little obnoxious. Usually gratuity is included only for large parties.

    (3)
  • Raquel W.

Food was outstanding. We started with lobster roll. Preservation was top notch, and tasted even better. Service was fast and good, we came 45 minutes to closing time and we weren't made to feel uncomfortable about it. Restaurant is on second floor with big windows overlooking beach. Nice view. We had panang curry for dinner. We ordered it extra spicy and it was!!! Only down side of entire experience was huge cockroach they crawled by our table. The servers hustle to casually get rid of it. I live in Florida, so I understand cockroaches happen, but it's still pretty gross.

The only way this place has good reviews is if they write it themselves or pay people to write it. I'm not even into reviews but this restaurant made me so angry I feel compared to share. The food here is a joke. You pay triple money for frozen absolutely tasteless crap and canned meat and it's not even quality cans. Who knows what left overs it is made out of. The portions are tiny and completely not shareable. My bf and I spent $100 bucks and left hungry. We ordered spring rolls, the Tom khan soup, and beef pad see ew noodles. There were two spring rolls which were clearly straight from the microwave a burn my mouth. The noodle plate had a few pieces of what looked liked boiled old meat and barely any noodles. The soup was okay but the "bowl" size came in one of thOse huge plates that have a tiny bowl of soup area in the middle. It was probably 5,tablespoons of actual soup there. Not to mention there is no AC there so your sweat is dripping in your tiny plate of frozen nastiness. They think cuz they are on the beach they can up charge that high and serve such tiny portions.

Just had Christmas dinner there and it was excellent. They were a little behind but it was well worth the wait. Had Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups and both were superb. We also had the fried rice and the green curry and I would strongly recommend leaving some space for dessert. We had the Thai donuts and they were the perfect ending. The people are so Genuine and friendly. It is well worth a visit

Authentic, fresh, tasty THAI with million dollar view. Attentive service. Small and beach cozy. Soft shell crabs perfect. Grouper in Penang sauce brought me back to days in Penang. Volcano chicken cooked perfect in green curry sauce. What a treat to close my wyes and be in Thailand.

Right off the bat I'll preface this review by saying it's 3 stars for the food, plus an extra star for reasonable prices and a great location if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels. Okay, now that that's out of the way... We stopped in here for dinner since it was within walking distance of our hotel and it was reasonably priced, especially compared to the over-priced restaurants at many of the hotels. We started with the edamame and golden shrimp. The edamame was overcooked which was a bummer. It also could have been seasoned better (I love my edamame covered in salt). The shrimp was good, a lighter dish than I was expecting from something that's fried. However, the filling was a bit bland and could have used a little something extra. My husband ordered the Hawaiian fried rice for his entree while I went with Fresh Ginger with Tofu. The vegetables were cooked well in my dish and it had a nice kick of ginger. However, the dish was very saucy - it would have been even better if they had cut the amount of sauce in half so the vegetables weren't literally swimming in it. Overall this is a nice place with attentive service and great prices for where it is. It's not the best Thai food I've ever had but definitely better than I was expecting to find in the area.

I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. Situated above Primanti Bros. on A-1-A, it's a quiet restaurant with a quaint decor that serves up all of your Thai favorites and daily specials too. Portions are ample and service is friendly. Our app of beef skewers were delicious, and so were the curry and pad thai plates we feasted on. The sweet chili chicken is also very good. If you haven't been to Thai on the Beach yet, you are missing out!

Ive since moved from Ft Lauderdale, but me and my bf agree one of our best eating experiences. Satee chicken appetizer, and the duck w/sweet and sour sauce... the duck... is to dream of, which I do, and hey its right where all the action is too!

This is my second time here. If you like mom and pop restaurants, small hole in the wall kinds with awesome food, this is for you. I love that sort of thing so I have always enjoyed this place on both occasions that I have been. The view is amazing, complete ocean view. There are only about 7 tables and has always been empty when I went. It is a bit hard to find as it sits on top of a pizza restaurant just south of Sunrise blvd. before the next street (forgot what that side street is called). The only compliant I would say is that the windows on the outside needs to be cleaned, especially when you're staring out the whole time to look at that amazing view. I ordered the snapper and omg I ate the whole thing down to the bones.... I truly love this place... Perfect for a romantic night, feels like you have the place all to yourself...Just try it.. Very descent price too..

Thai on the beach at 901 N. Federal which is the same address of the legendary 24 hour 365 day a year never closed in over 25 years Primanti Brothers of Pittsburgh. When you get to that address, look up, as Thai on the Beach is just above it on the second floor. Just walk up the spiral type half circle staircase and you are there. The thing abut Thai on the Beach is the view. It couldn't be better, overlooking the beach, the ocean and a part of the Beach Volley Ball set up. The view is as spectacular as any. Now as to the food, it's Thai alright, but probably the first Thai restaurant that I've ever been in where the food is generally bland and lacking in any symmetry as to its balance of flavors. The décor I could best describe as amateurish, which detracts from a setting that would otherwise have considerable ambiance to it. The view, however, makes up for most that problem. In short: Décor: 2 Food: 3 Service: 3 View: 4 Guess it sort of averages out a solid 3+

Ok we blew it out here on a take out order...and it was great overall. An appetizer of fried spring rolls were crispy...a little small in order (3)....gets a 3 rating...just ok. Tom Kai Gai soup was fantastic. Creamy..chicken mushrooms spicy. Wife had pad Thai. A little sweet but had a decent amount of pork..only a few shrimps. I tried it. A 4. Would have loved it spicier. Last my fried fish panang curry was great. Asked for spicy...but still not near enough for me ...wanted to make that hot mouth..breath in sound... a bit more but sweet...great curry with a good balanced spice. Really great place. Highly recommended....in a place where we had a really hard time finding good food.

the pace is pretty cool on the inside... but the food is not good. i had pad Thai and honestly there was like 3 pieces of chicken in the whole thing, portions were really small, the noodles were chewy and the flavor was just so bland. food was overpriced and definitely not worth it. would not recommend.

I came here after drinking in fort lauderdale on a recommendation from a nearby bartender. The food was outstanding and so was the service. I had the pad Thai a few singha's and a few sushi rolls Everything was fresh and delicious and the waitress was quick with a new beer when I accidentally knocked mine over when my food came over. I wish I found this place sooner so I could have enjoyed it more.

This was deceiving. The food tasted amazing. I had the chicken with Thai basil sauce, my husband had scallops with a type of curry. He was sick all night long. I had one scallop and had a mild stomach ache all day with intestinal issues but nowhere as near as bad as him. Clearly they do not inspect their seafood.

Food is good not amazing, but i enjoyed my meal and the value can't be beat compared to other restaurants overlooking the beach. Came here for a romantic night. The Place was pretty empty and the server was very attentive. Probably would go back to visit in the day so i could appreciate the ocean view.

Nice view of beach and people watching. We were a large group seated at two tables. One table got their food promptly and thought the food was good (pad Thai and squid with basil sauce) while the other table got their food about when the first table had finished eating and they enjoyed the food less. Prices seemed comparable to lots of restaurants in the area with most entrees in the low to mid teens ($12.95-$18.95)

It's a small restaurant with big flavor. It's just above Primanti Bros. I had the Tom Ka-Kai soup for an appetizer. It was a small bowl but was very satisfying. The vegetable dinner special with masaman sauce was delicious! I could not get enough! :-) My fiance had the Chicken Pad Thai which was also very good.

I hardly give 3 star and I have eaten in many Thai places. Pad Thai is sweet even after I asked for extra spicy. Masaman curry was nothing more than coconut curry. If you are not foodi with exotic food experience, it's good for you. Fried rice was very good.

  • Bettina L.

Had the Masaman Curry, which was to die for -- extremely flavorful and delicious. I have to take a star off for the service, it was a little slow and the waitresses talked very softly (to the point where you couldn't understand what they were saying) and were generally very timid. The ambiance is cozy and the view is great.

I'm neither here nor there on this place. We ventured here at the suggestion of good friends who love it here. The location across from the beach is great, so the view of the water and palm trees is really pretty. The restaurant is located up on the second floor, and one thing gals should know is to NOT wear a skirt if dining here. You must walk up an outdoor stairway to reach the entrance, which means the patrons from the pizza shop downstairs can see up your skirt as they dine on the sidewalk down below. If you wear a skirt, just be cognizant of the folks looking at your goodies! The food was good for sure, but the pricing was too high for what it was. You're really paying for the location I suppose. While the neighborhood is kind of blah, the proximity to the beach is great. So, about the food -- we ordered the miso soup (good!), the spring rolls (3 mini spring rolls for $4.95 is overpriced), the Yum Tofu (a Special -- tasted good but waaaaay too spicy considering we ordered mild/1 star, and couldn't even finish it because my lips were burning!), and the Shrimp Tempura Roll (fantastic, but over priced at $11.95). I'd be willing to try this place again in hopes of ordering something that had NO spice factor whatsoever, and in hopes of only ordering specials. There is no Happy Hour here since they don't even open until 4:30pm. There is a Specials Menu which is pretty pricey, but they also have two Specials chalkboards that include items not found on the Specials menu. Those prices are reasonable, and there are several specials offered. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5, but since Yelp doesn't allow any fractions, I gave it a 3. It's worth a try, but don't expect to be WOW'd if you're a regular consumer of Thai food.

Ft. Lauderdale Beach is a sleazy tourist trap. The rate of tattoo parlors per capita is astounding. The cheesy t-shirt shops are abundant. And located above one of these monuments to the white trash of America is a true gem in the rough, Thai on the Beach. My mom was staying down the street on a layover one afternoon (she's a flight attendant) and I decided to make the drive down to visit her. I pulled up Yelp on my phone and turned on the Monocle to find a place to eat, and the place with the best reviews was Thai on the Beach, so we went. We had a little bit of trouble finding the place, and when we walked in, we were a little unsure, but boy am I glad we stayed. First off, the view is great. You're only one story up, but that's really all you need to take in the beautiful panoramic views of the beach. It was a great compliment to what was about to come. I ordered the Panang Curry and my mom ordered the Massaman Curry. They came, yellow soup looking dishes, filled with meat and vegetables. I dipped my spoon in and brought it to my mouth. Pure heaven. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on Thai food, and I have never in my life tasted anything like this. It was sweet and spicy and creamy and savory all at the same time, turned up to maximum volume. The scallops were cooked perfectly, as were the vegetables, but the real star here was the curry sauce. My mom's massaman curry was just as good. It was thick and filled with potatoes. I wish I had a reason to be in this area more often, because I would love to become a regular at Thai on the Beach. 5/5 stars.

We stopped in here when looking for something "non-chain". It was a decent meal. When we showed up it wasn't that busy, but by the time we left people were waiting for tables. The Food: Appetizers of dumplings, spring rolls, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper. All three were very well done, especially the steamed dumplings. For the entree I had the Ba-Mee, which was mediocre. I asked for them to make it a little hot, and she must have forgotten, because it was rated G, and I was hoping for R. The noodles were also rather oily/greasy, which was a bit of a bummer. The Service: Slow, but considerate. One poor girl was taking care of the entire front end of the restaurant. There was a noticeable gap between the appetizers and the entrees, but she consistently stopped by to make sure our drinks were topped off and assured us the food was coming. The Location: Very small, slightly cramped, yet fun. We were here at night so we couldn't see the beach, but knowing it's location, it is literally 100 yards from the ocean and would have an amazing view during the day. Overall it was an A-OK experience, and my friends raved about the Green Curry Duck and Pad Thai. **NOTE** $10 minimum on CC's

I ordered the dinner special, with chicken. With the dinner specials, you pick the sauce. I choose Panang Curry. This is a thick curry paste. I love curry. This meal was no exception. My only complaint was that the soda's were not bottomless.

Dined at Thai on the beach 5/14 and loved it. Had the Thai dumplings and Gyoza for appetizers and both were excellent. For entrees had the Pad Thai and the Kea-Mau noodles and asked for them to be made hot. Awesome food and the best view in town. Highly recommended!

I've eaten here a few times and agree with the other reviews. If you get a seat by the window, you have a great view of the beach. Definitely park in the old Holiday Inn garage for free and walk around the corner. Everything I've eaten there has been very good. Today I had the pad thai ($12.95) which came with chicken and shrimp, my lady had the thai beach fried rice ($12.95) w/ beef, shrimp and chicken and we split an outstanding appetizer: shumai (shrimp dumplings, $6.95). Those were so good I could have eaten a couple of orders by myself. Service is good and the food is presented nicely. Like somebody else said, they are slightly higher-priced than other thai restaurants in the area, but not by that much and you are having thai...wait for it...on the beach. Recommended for locals and it's also a great place to take visitors for lunch because of the awesome view.

I came here with a friend thinking this was a sushi-Thai place. I was starving and looking for something substantial from the Thai side of the menu, while my friend could get something light from the sushi side of the menu. I don't think it's fair to call this a sushi-Thai place since the sushi offerings here are pretty meager. It's really just a Thai restaurant. Overall, I wasn't impressed with this place. We started off with the Beach Golden Shrimp appetizer which which is shrimp wrapped in rice paper and fried. It wasn't bad, but mostly it was just blah. My friend had the basic Pad Thai and the noodles were undercooked. For my entree, I had the beef in cashew nut sauce. Apparently, they got confused and thought I ordered a vegetarian dish, because my dish had 8 very small strips of beef. The sauce was sweet, but not the least bit spicy as was advertised on the menu. Needless to say, I felt ripped off and I left the restaurant still starving. Suffice it to say, I won't be returning. For the food we got, it wasn't worth the price or the treacherous climb up and down the stairs from Primanti Bros. to get there.

Went there on a whim one day while finishing up at the beach. Beautiful 2nd story view of the ocean combined with great food is hard to beat. I would definitely recommend checking out the 2 special boards before ordering! They don't really mention them, so make sure you take a look because there are a lot of good options on there. We ordered the Massaman Curry which was absolutely delicious and came with sweet potatoes instead of regular potato chunks as most other places use. Now I'm spoiled! We also ordered some sushi: A Tempura Shrimp roll and a Tempura Salmon roll for my girl. Both were loved. The salad was also delicous and prepared nicely. Have had 2 graet experiences there and can't wait to go again. Highly recommend as one of the top thai restaraunts in the Ft. Lauderdale area, up there with Asia Bay on Las Olas.

I only have time for a quickie: Location is ideal for a great view of the beach, in a casual spot. Servers are very nice but there are not many of them and the dinner "rush" threw them for a loop. Things took quite a while to come out of the kitchen, but once we got our food- we enjoyed it a lot. The soups are a must try, pad thai didn't disappoint, and the sushi was fresh. A good stop if you're not in a rush and want a dependable Asian meal at a reasonable price.

The duck w basil is absolutely amazing. Perfect view of the beach so great 4 a date. The friendly service a d great atmosphere make up 4 the decor and scary walk up the stairs. At a glance it looks as though a 12 year old girl did the decorating but the food makes up for it. thanks 4 reading

The first thing you'll notice about this restaurant is that it looks like the interior was designed by an adolescent girl, minus Justin Bieber posters and Twilight memorabilia. If the pink walls, kitschy decor, and twinkly lights aren't an issue for you, then it is safe to proceed with your dinner plans. After not having thai iced tea for at least 6 months, it was the first thing on my mind when I sat down. And wouldn't you know it? It was sickeningly sweet... just like it's meant to be. I ordered appetizers for my meal and they were ok: tempura soft shell crab and pan-fried gyoza. Both were fried to a crisp... no sogginess or dripping grease. Good, but nothing that I absolutely have to go back for. My friend ordered pork with mixed vegetables which she seemed to enjoy. Prior reviews mention that there is sushi here. While that may have been the case in the past, it does not appear to be an option any longer. The menu was strictly thai food- which is fine by me because I tend to be skeptical of the asian fusion restaurants anyway.

This place was decent. I wasn't super thrilled about the wait though. There was one server and a super full house. My stomach was about to implode, and there was about an hour and fifteen minutes from the time we ordered and the time we were served. I wouldn't say the food was the best, but for the location it's not terrible. I might give them a second try next time I'm in town.

I had planned to dine in but I had to leave because the place stinks like a moldy skunk. So I got my meal as a carry-out and to my surprise, it was actually good! As a bonus, it didn't make me sick either. The windows were so dirty, I couldn't see the tattoo and paraphernalia shops that surround this little second-floor dive until I got back outside. If you decide to eat here, hold your breath when you run inside to pick up your order. Be careful on the steps going up and down, they're not in very good shape.

I think I found my new favorite Thai restaurant! First of all, this is really Thai on the beach, the view by any of window seats (call and reserve ahead of time just in case since it is a relatively small restaurant with minimal seating & you're going to want to sit by the window) is fabulous. Hello Ft. Lauderdale beach! Although hard to find, it's definitely worth going. I've had the miso soup, chicken wonton soup, chicken satee, panang curry, pad thai & sushi and all of it was delicious. The sushi stands out in that although the sushi menu is very small (the owner mentioned they're just starting to sell sushi to see how things go before they expand their sushi menu) it extremely fresh & quite tasty. The decor is cute & modern & the service was great. The owner seems to always be on hand as this is a small hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant. That's always an added bonus for me. I'll be back for many date nights to come!

What can I tell you, the food here is pretty spot on. I'm pretty critical when it comes to Thai food, as there are a number of very good thai restaurants in the NYC metropolitan area. TOTB easily holds its own with the best of them. The food is packed with flavor. We were returning from Miami Beach to Fort Lauderdale Airport, but were running a bit late. Still, we didn't want to miss out on dinner, and I came across TOTB searching online. We knew we were cutting it close, so when about 10 min away, we called and ordered food in advance, so it would be ready when we arrived. We also asked for a table facing the beach. Another specific request we made was that the Basil Chicken be ground instead of sliced (the chicken absorbs much more flavor this way). They accomodated us perfectly. We parked and walked upstairs. The place is simple. Non-descript but cozy. There was one table left facing the beach, with a reserved placement on it. That was for us. We sat down and the food immediately began coming out. The vegetable spring rolls were crisp. The basil chicken was ground as requested, extremely flavorful and with a bit of a kick. The noodles (drunken style but using thin noodles instead of thick) was fantastic. My companion had the tofu red curry, I tried a bit, the curry was smooth as silk. It was all just wonderful. They were super accomodating, and we caught our flight on time. Hope to be back when I'm in the area.

This is the 3rd time i have dined here...fantastic every time. Had the special seafood pad thai - delish, Shrimp shumai- standard, Tom yum gong soup - amazing and a mixed seafood red curry- again very good. They were short staffed a chef so the sushi menu was not available but will try next time. Short staffed a waitress as well (one waitress was serving over 8 tables and over 20 diners) but she was very fast and i did not feel we lacked service. Best Thai in Ft Lauderdale!

My friend really wanted to eat here and had plan to do so before the trip. It's definitely near the beach and on the second floor, so you'll get the view if you're sitting by the window. Too bad we were there at night and had no view of the beach other than the stores near by. Oh well. The food was fantastic and felt like home cooking. The Pad Woon Sen was the BOMB! It was the best Pad Woon Sen I had in a long time second only to my mom's Pad Woon Sen. All dishes were delicious except the Pad See Ew since they ran out of big noodles. They made it with Pad Thai noodles, but it was just not the same. They also didn't put in any egg which they were really apologetic about and brought us desert for free. Nice people whom really wanted us to have a good experience. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area again.

Excellent little, and I mean little cozy restaurant that serves fresh food. Ask about the specials of the day. The 3 of us had delicate, tasty Thai dishes. It's been over a week and I still remember the fresh taste of the ginger chicken I had. The portions are not large but I am looking forward to the next time I visit this cute little place on the beach next to the B Hotel.

My first Thai on the Beach experience was when the bf brought over takeout. I had Panang curry with scallops. It was delicious. He had red curry with squid (I think), which was also tasty. I finally made my way back there to eat at the restaurant. Tip: Park in the old holiday inn garage. It's off of Sunrise Lane next to the Parrot. It's free! I looked at the menu, and ordered Panang curry again. I'll be more adventurous next time, but I was really in the mood for something I was sure I'd enjoy. Go ahead and ask for some spice! It's not too overwhelming, but it adds a nice kick. One meal here will usually leave you with leftovers. I'll be back, and I'll order something different next time.

It's about time I rave about this restaurant because it's definitely one of the few "unique" restaurants around Ft. Lauderdale- mostly due to its proximity to the beach (across the A1A) and the food. GREAT food, great location, and a very friendly staff. I haven't been during the dinner rush hour, so I don't have a say in that topic.. My fav dishes so far have been the delicious Panang curry and the yummy Thai donuts. The Thai tea is a bit too sweet for my liking but delicious nevertheless.

The first thing you will want to know about this restaurant is that it is extremely small. We went for a birthday dinner and it was a party of 10. We were the only party there and there was NO way another party would have fit and no way they could have fit more than 10, so if you have that large of a party, make sure you make a reservation. Other wise, it's small 2 person table all around. I don't think it's good for kids in a large party because again there is not much space. We had a 4 and 2 year old and that part was a bit stressful. I can't give it less stars though for that because I didn't choose the restaurant but my mother in law told me it was going to be small. Now if just my husband and I went with our son, then it would be totally fine. As for the service and food, it was great and delicious. There were only 2 employees working (tells you how small this place is) but they got to us in a timely manner. We had all kinds of sushi, green curry, whole snapper, duck, chicken wings, fried rice, miso soup & more. Not one of us complained of our food, we all thought the food was amazing. In fact we couldn't stop eating and walked out of there overly stuffed. I will definitely be going back with a smaller party. As for parking, you are lucky to find a spot behind the building and have to pay for it on a busy night, or they say you can valet, but when we arrived, we saw no one to take our car.

Went here for dinner with low expectations and left with a desire to return the next time I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Had the Beach Golden Shrimp appetizer followed by shrimp & chicken with sweet & spicy sauce. Food was very good and the staff accommodating to special requests for our party of six.

Went here last night for a romantic quiet dinner and it was perfect! The 2nd story view at night almost makes you feel like you are out of the busy Ft. Lauderdale beach scene which I appreciate. The decor is pleasant and peaceful, it was instantly comfortable and welcoming. We had a table by the window to see the street below. To start, we ordered an off the menu sushi roll which was perfect to share for two and so yummy. We had them put the spicy tuna salad ingredients into an i/o roll. Next, we shared the tom ka kai soup, the masamun curry with beef, the non-pad thai noodle choice with tofu. The soup was thicker and creamier than I anticipated but so delicious and worth the calories! It was a lovely blend of flavors. The curry was delectable, there is plenty of extra sauce to sop up with the perfectly fluffy rice that accompanies and the sweet potatoes were a nice addition. The presentation was simple, nothing funky that makes you wonder where to get started. The noodles! are crave-worthy and delicious, the tofu was plentiful and held up well; the meat was not missed at all. And I made sure I had room for dessert this time because I was in the mood for thai doughnuts. We shared the plate since it is really too much for one person. The were a perfect way to finish our meal. Last thing to mention was that the Sapporo was delicious and fresh, and the unsweetened ice tea I had was one of the best I have ever had, refreshing and not at all bitter. Our server was sweet and attentive, she was the only one on staff for the front and had the whole thing under control at all times. She even packed up our leftovers in the right containers so there was no spillage, and gave us more rice than we had. That was a nice touch since I still wanted to get to the rest of my masamun curry! It was a delightful and exactly the mood we were seeking. The portions are good for sharing so you can try more. The prices seem a little high but with one app, a soup, 2 entrees and a dessert, we were pleasantly stuffed and had leftovers for another meal. All in all, a good value. It was my first time and I will definitely be back again and again.

Thai on the Beach is a little hard to find, upstairs over a local landmark pizza by the slice spot, but it's worth the quest. With a great view of the beach, I always call ahead for a table in the window. The food is outstanding and the wait staff always remembers me no matter how long I have been gone (I travel a lot). Food presentation is beautiful, absolute art. Favorite dish, Volcano shrimp which uses the sauce from the thai chicken wings, but the Pad Tai, the chicken coconut soup and the Massaman Curry are all 5 star favorites. Tall bottles of ice cold beer go great with Thai food and there's are always frosty. Finally, the 2 best tables have padded sofas, very romantic. In a town with lots of great Thai food, this place gets the details right and that's why it's my favorite.

Decent thai food, had their fried rice and pad thai for lunch after we spent the morning on the beach. Came with a basic iceburg lettuce salad with either ginger or peanut dressing (they added too much dressing for the size of the salad). Shrimp in the pad thai and fried rice dishes had a strange taste (not from the spices). Had thai donuts for dessert, reminded me of hush puppies but with condensed milk drizzled on top. It's on the 2nd floor over a 24 hr pizza place, and the building kinda looks dumpy, but it has a great view of the beach and ocean. Be sure to get a table at one of the windows.

One of the few places where you can enjoy an ocean view while eating. Affordable and tasty! The drunken noodles were great but the red curry was bland. You should definitely try this place. Friendly staff and quick service.

here is a bonus review for those who may go on vacation soon...i go down to FL fairly often and usually pick this section of beach solely so i can lay out in the sun and know that i can walk 50 feet and have lmy favorite meal for unch overlooking the beach and peoplewatch the sidewalk strollers, i didn't expect much the first time since i usually find that the better the view/location, the worse the food...i was very pleasantly surprised at how good my meal was, both the nigiri and the thai dishes(pad thai and a curry dish) were delicious and both my dining companions agreed...the prices are a bit higher than your average FL thai joint but you are oceanfront after all...it is pure heaven knowing you are only a 10 seconds away from your umbrella and towel once you are finished eating
